Summer has arrived, and with it the lovely weather that makes us all want to spend more time outside. But are you going to make the most of the opportunity that lies ahead?
There is no better time of the year to make that extra bit of effort to kick start your metabolism into shape than the summer. There are several reasons for this and in a way they all link together.
Primarily you are going to want to get out of the house and enjoy the sun, everyone does right? This is going to mean getting up and about, and overall being slightly more active. At the same time you are spending time outside in the heat and perspiring more. This in itself is going to mean that you are losing calories, and you are also going to be doing your metabolism a favor by drinking more water in these conditions in order to remain hydrated.
Why not head out for a nice long walk, cycle, a swim, or even go to a local beach or park and play some sort of recreational sport with friends? If just going for a quick walk is all you want to do then it's fine, that is still going to help you out. The point is here that we all feel much more motivated to get up and go when the sun is out, and doing something that you enjoy doesn't make it like hard work, it's having fun that is going to benefit your body.
You don't have to do this every day, but a couple of times a week is a good start, especially if you have time off work or school, and find yourself with more free time on your hands.
The summer is the perfect opportunity to get yourself into a more active routine, so that when it comes to an end, and the colder weather comes back again, you are in a habit of getting out more and exercising.
Your metabolism responds to routine, you get into some positive habits such as eating foods that boost the metabolism, remain somewhat active on a regular basis, drink plenty of water, and do not overeat and take on board more calories than your body needs, you are going to be able to increase your metabolism. However, doing any of these things on the odd occasion is going to have no effect at all, which is why forcing yourself out of bad habits and routines and into positive ones, is the way forward when it comes to losing weight.
Enjoy the summer, get outside more and take part in an activity you enjoy, always ensure that you have water with you, even if you are going out for a short walk, and protect yourself from the sun. These factors, as well as making the effort not to eat high calorie and processed foods, are a sure fire way to make this summer one that puts you on the road to losing weight.
Grab the opportunity in front of you with both hands if you genuinely want to be able to boost your metabolism into shape.
